Aletta Sørensen, MSc, MBANT, ND
Functional medicine for complex cases, longevity & regenerative health
Functional medicine practitioner, educator and complex-case specialist with more than ten years of experience across clinical practice, laboratory testing, practitioner education, supplement development and regenerative health.
A broader clinical picture
Bringing the different pieces together
Aletta works with children, adults and older patients experiencing persistent, complex or difficult-to-explain health problems.
Many patients have already consulted several practitioners, received multiple diagnoses or tried standard approaches without achieving the progress they expected. Aletta’s role is to bring the different pieces together, identify the most important priorities and develop a structured, individualised strategy.
Her clinical work spans interconnected areas including autoimmunity, chronic inflammation, gastrointestinal disorders, hormonal and metabolic health, neurological and neurodevelopmental presentations, infectious diseases, musculoskeletal degeneration, healthy ageing and longevity.
She regularly works with gut dysbiosis, persistent digestive symptoms, PCOS, endometriosis, insulin resistance, thyroid and autoimmune conditions, chronic infections, Lyme disease and co-infections, MCAS, mitochondrial dysfunction and complex inflammatory patterns. Her work also includes ADHD, autism, OCD, PANS/PANDAS and other neuroimmune and neurodevelopmental presentations in children and adults.
Clinical focus
Complex health rarely fits into one category
Aletta’s work is focused on the areas where different systems overlap and where a broader clinical picture may be useful.
Gut, immune & inflammatory health
Gut dysbiosis, persistent digestive symptoms, autoimmunity, chronic inflammation and immune-related patterns.
Hormonal & metabolic health
PCOS, endometriosis, insulin resistance, thyroid concerns, metabolic patterns and nutritional status.
Neuroimmune & neurodevelopmental presentations
ADHD, autism, OCD, PANS/PANDAS and complex neurological or neurodevelopmental presentations.
Infectious disease & laboratory investigation
Lyme disease, co-infections, infectious-disease patterns, functional testing and clinical relevance.
Longevity & regenerative health
Healthy ageing, mobility, osteoarthritis, chronic pain, muscle loss and age-related changes affecting independence.
Complex medical pathways
Support alongside medical teams when patients are navigating cancer, complex treatment pathways or recovery.
Experience beyond the consultation room
Clinical thinking supported by laboratory, formulation and education experience
Harley Row Clinic
For five years, Aletta practised at Harley Row Clinic, a multidisciplinary Harley Street clinic specialising in mental health and neurodiversity. She worked with children and adults presenting with ADHD, autism, OCD and complex neurological, psychiatric and neurodevelopmental symptoms within a wider clinical environment.
Laboratory & industry leadership
Aletta served as Head of Education at ArminLabs and held senior positions including General Manager of Nordic Laboratories and Chief Development Officer for a professional supplement dispensary.
These roles gave her experience with laboratory testing, genetics, infectious-disease investigations, gut testing, supplement formulation, ingredient selection, supplier assessment, research and development, practitioner education and product quality.
Mentorship & practitioner education
Aletta received one-to-one clinical mentorship from Susan McCamish, the formulator behind Beyond Balance, and extensive laboratory and infectious-disease education through direct work with Dr Armin Schwarzbach, founder of ArminLabs.
Alongside her clinical work, she has trained and mentored more than 200 practitioners, served as a mentor for the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners in the United Kingdom, and contributed to courses, conferences, webinars and practitioner training.
A measured approach
Comprehensive, but deliberately measured
A complex patient does not necessarily need an overwhelming list of tests, supplements and treatments introduced all at once. Aletta begins by listening carefully to the patient’s history, understanding how symptoms may be connected and identifying which areas require attention first.
Review the history, symptoms, current care and priorities.
Select investigations according to clinical relevance and budget.
Introduce recommendations logically so responses can be monitored.
Refine the strategy as new information and responses emerge.
Every investigation and intervention should have a clear purpose. Recommendations are personalised, practical and designed to be understood and followed.
Advanced and regenerative pathways
When more advanced options are being considered
Aletta has three years of experience working with peptides, exosomes, stem-cell-based interventions and NK-cell therapies. Where appropriate, these approaches may be considered in collaboration with appropriately qualified medical clinics.
They are not automatically recommended and do not replace the foundations of care. Relevance depends on the individual patient, their clinical priorities, eligibility, treatment plan and the wider medical strategy.

Understanding the experience of being left without a clear direction
Aletta’s commitment to complex health began through her own experience as a patient. After living with health problems that remained unexplained despite repeatedly seeking help, she came to understand how exhausting and expensive it can be to navigate fragmented healthcare without a clear direction.
That experience continues to shape the way she works. She takes time to listen, explain her reasoning and help patients understand what may be happening in their bodies. Her objective is not to do the greatest number of tests or recommend the longest protocol, but to identify the most relevant opportunities and create a plan that is intelligent, practical and genuinely personalised.
